Project Overview
Blackbook Ink was engaged by Ambarvale High School to deliver a series of murals across multiple locations within the campus enhancing key learning environments and creating a more engaging, visually connected school experience.
Rather than a single installation, this project formed part of a broader approach to improving the school’s atmosphere through targeted, subject-specific artwork integrated into everyday student spaces.
The Approach
Each mural was designed to respond directly to its location and purpose within the school ensuring relevance to both students and staff.
Key areas included:
-
Office Block Atriums – Creating welcoming, visually engaging spaces that enhance the school’s first impression and daily flow
-
TAS Faculty – A custom mural featuring a coffee cup and teapot, referencing hospitality and practical learning within the subject area
-
HSIE Stairwell – A large-scale mural designed to activate a transitional space, bringing energy and identity to an otherwise overlooked area
-
PDHPE Wall – A dynamic sports mural featuring activities such as soccer and swimming, reinforcing themes of movement, health, and participation
Each piece was developed to align with the subject matter while contributing to a cohesive visual uplift across the campus.
The Outcome
The completed murals have transformed key areas of the school into vibrant, purposeful environments that support both learning and student engagement.
The impact:
-
Enhances the overall visual identity of the school
-
Creates stronger connections between subjects and their physical spaces
-
Improves student experience in high-traffic and transitional areas
-
Contributes to school pride and a more positive learning environment
These murals now act as permanent visual assets embedded within the daily life of the school.
Why It Works
Schools are more than just classrooms they are environments that shape how students feel, engage, and learn.
By integrating murals across multiple faculties and shared spaces, Ambarvale High School has:
